Honolulu, Hawai‘i (May 22, 2023) – As Hawaiian Telcom continues its commitment to increase digital equity by expanding access to fiber broadband service in Hawai‘i, the company has promoted veteran marketing executive Jamie Kawamoto to Vice President – Brand Marketing.
“Jamie is driving the transformation of Hawaiian Telcom’s brand perception to match the fiber technology company we are today,” said Su Shin, President and General Manager of Hawaiian Telcom. “We proudly celebrate 140 years of building connections in Hawai‘i this year. Our products and services have changed over time but the heart of our brand, which is our commitment to Hawai‘i, remains constant. I’m excited about Jamie’s efforts to tell our story in fresh and innovative ways.”
Last year alone Hawaiian Telcom invested over $160 million in private capital to further expand its statewide fiber network, increase its network capacity, and support communications and technology solutions for customers. Approximately 268,000 locations in Hawai‘i have access to Hawaiian Telcom’s 100% fiber internet service Fioptics with the fastest upload speed in the state of 500 megabits per second (Mbps) and ultra-fast one gigabit download speed.
In her new role, Kawamoto’s responsibilities include brand strategy, retail marketing, sponsorships & brand activations, social media, and market research for Hawaiian Telcom and its parent company altafiber.
Kawamoto has been with Hawaiian Telcom for the past decade. She previously served as Executive Director – Marketing Communications, and was responsible for advertising, acquisition and loyalty marketing, website content, public relations, and internal communications.
Prior to joining Hawaiian Telcom in 2013, Kawamoto, who has 25 years of experience in marketing, served in leadership roles at Honolulu-based Tetris Online, Inc. and Avatar Reality, Inc. She previously held marketing leadership positions at industry-leading companies such as Walmart.com, Mattel, and PlayStation.
Born in New York and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kawamoto earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside, and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Blood Bank of Hawai‘i and Hawai‘i Literacy. She resides in ‘Aiea.
