Hawaiian Telcom to Process Approximately $12 Million in Customer Credit; Customers to Receive $21.95 Credit in September/October Bill
Hawaiian Telcom’s residential and business phone customers can expect to see a $21.95 credit in their bills, which they will receive in September or October. About $12 million will be given to Hawaiian Telcom’s customers as a result of the change from Verizon Hawai'i to Hawaiian Telcom.
Verizon, The Carlyle Group and the Consumer Advocate agreed to this “customer appreciation credit” as one of the conditions for the sale of Verizon Hawai'i to The Carlyle Group. The credit will be applied to Hawaiian Telcom’s bills by October 31.
"We’re pleased to be Hawai'i’s telephone company and that as part of our transition from Verizon’s ownership, our customers will be thanked for their loyalty," said Michael Ruley, chief executive officer of Hawaiian Telcom.
The credit applies to qualified residents and business retail access lines as well as key and PBX lines/trunks that were in service at the time of the sale closing in May and remain active until the processing of the credit in the September or October bill.
