Hawaiian Telcom Teams Up with Hawaii Winter Baseball League

HTSportsNet.com plays ball with professional baseball

The Hawaii Winter Baseball League is going global as Hawaiian Telcom video streams games on HTSportsNet.com. Seven games produced by K5 and broadcast live in Hawaii, are available to viewers on the Mainland, Japan or any fan who desires to watch the games over their broadband connection. Window Media Player is also required.

“We are very excited to be a part of professional baseball in the islands,” said Michael “Mac” McHale, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Hawaiian Telcom. “Many of these athletes are literally steps away from the big show, so this is an exciting opportunity for baseball fans across the world.”

The live streaming action gets underway with the season opener on September 29th. For a schedule of all seven games available go to Hawaiiwinterbaseball.com.

“It’s great that baseball fans around the world can watch the play on the field using this outstanding Hawaii Telcom site,” said Hawaii Winter Baseball President Hervy Kurisu.

In addition, games will be archived on the Internet, allowing HTSportsNet.com subscribers to replay the games they purchased anytime from anywhere they have a high-speed connection.

“HTSportsNet.com is already very popular with fans of University of Hawaii sports who can watch home games live in different parts of the globe – now we are a part of another great option,” said McHale. “Major league clubs in Japan and the mainland will benefit from this as well.”

Last month, Hawaiian Telcom launched its Next Generation High-Speed Internet service with speeds up to 11 Mbps. The new HSI service is available in Metro Honolulu, as well as East Honolulu, Ewa, Mililani, Waipahu and Wahiawa on Oahu, and in Hilo on the Big Island. Hawaiian Telcom is working to expand the new service throughout the state. For more information, please call 643-0805 (residential) or 643-0841 (business) or visit www.hawaiiantel.com.

All speeds reflect initial connection speeds between the computer and Hawaiian Telcom’s central office. Actual throughput speeds will vary based on numerous factors, including network and Internet congestion and the speed of the Web sites visited on the Internet.
