HAWAIIAN TELCOM OFFERS $5 CORDED PHONES TO HELP RED CROSS
SALE SUPPORTS “HATS OFF” EVENT IN NATIONAL RED CROSS MONTH

HONOLULU (March 1, 2007) -- March is National Red Cross Month, and Hawaiian Telcom will help celebrate by selling Slimline corded phones for $5 (retail value of $24.95) from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday near Tamarind Park in downtown Honolulu.

The offer is part of Hawaiian Telcom’s support for the annual “Hats Off to the Red Cross” event. All proceeds from the sale of these phones on Friday will be donated to the Hawaii Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“As many people learned after the earthquake last October, a basic corded phone can provide priceless connectivity during a disaster,” said Harvey Plummer, Hawaiian Telcom’s Senior Vice President for Engineering and Operations and a member of Red Cross Hawaii’s Board of Directors. “We’re happy to partner with the Red Cross in promoting disaster preparedness and doing our part to keep Hawaii connected.”

The corded phones will be available at the Hawaiian Telcom table by First Hawaiian Bank at the intersection of Bishop and King streets. The sale will continue while supplies last or until 1 p.m. on Friday.

Hats Off is the state chapter’s largest annual fundraising event. Volunteers will be collecting donations on Friday and Saturday at various street corners across the state. All funds raised during the event will remain in the islands to support Red Cross services for local residents.
