John T. Komeiji
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
In his role as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, John Komeiji will be responsible for legal, government affairs, support services and external affairs at Hawaiian Telcom. He joined the company in July 2008.
Mr. Komeiji comes to Hawaiian Telcom from Watanabe Ing & Komeiji LLP, where he served as senior partner. His practice focused in the litigation of complex commercial, personal injury and professional liability matters.
A member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and the International Society of Barristers, Mr. Komeiji is also a Bencher and a member of the Executive Committee of the American Inns of Court, Aloha Chapter. He is the past president of the Hawaii State Bar Association and has served on the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Lawyer Competence.
Mr. Komeiji has served as a lawyer representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference and has served as a lawyer representative to the United States District Court Conference, and the State of Hawaii Judiciary Conference. He was appointed as an arbitrator and master mediator by the State of Hawaii Judiciary.
A former Adjunct Professor of Law at the William S. Richardson School of Law where he taught Pretrial Litigation, Mr. Komeiji received the Co-Adjunct Professor of the Year Award in 2002.
He serves on numerous for-profit and non-profit boards, including the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii Foundation.
He earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1976 and a Juris Doctorate from Hastings College of Law in 1979.
