Article Quick Summary
If your wireless network has low connectivity or you find that you have a weak wireless signal, follow these tips to improve the performance of your wireless router.
Location
Choose a central location in your home for your router. Avoid placing your router next to walls and metal objects. Avoid placing your router on the floor by elevating it on a table or desk.
Wireless Channel
Wireless routers broadcast wireless internet on multiple channels. If you’re having problems with your wireless network, change the channel that your wireless router broadcasts on. Ensure that your wireless router is broadcasting on a non-overlapping channel such as 1, 6 or 11.
Wireless Interference
Wireless-G routers operate at the frequency 2.4 GHz. Many other electronic devices in your home operate on the same frequency. Devices such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, garage door openers and baby monitors operate on 2.4 Ghz. To avoid wireless interference, try to use wireless devices that operate on different frequencies such as 5.8 GHz or 900 MHz.
