Before the Upgrade:
Approximately two weeks prior to the upgrade you will be notified by a voicemail that you have access to the new system and can set up your new voicemail box. If possible, you should do the following prior to the actual upgrade:
- Record your name and greetings in your new voicemail box.
- Re-create any distribution lists in your new voicemail box.
- If you use Wake-Up Calls or Reminder Messages, set those up.
- Set up individual voicemail boxes within your service.
Your PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Your PIN will remain the same after the upgrade.
If you would like to reset your voicemail PIN:
- To access the automated system, call the Voicemail Helpdesk at 643-HELP and have your account billing number ready (found on your Hawaiian Telcom bill).
- Select Option 1.
- You may also reset your PIN by accessing the Repair Portal here.
- Your PIN will default to the last 4 digits of your telephone number.
- For security reasons, please change your new PIN immediately after the reset.
Set Up Your Voicemail in 2 Minutes
Follow these easy instructions to get to your voicemail account set up from your phone:
- Dial the new statewide voicemail access number at 643-MAIL (6245).
- Enter your PIN.
- Press #.
- Now your new voicemail account is active and you are in your account. The system will now ask you to press 4 to personalize your greeting. Follow the system prompts to finish customizing your new voicemail account.
- 643-MAIL will be your new access number after your voicemail service is upgraded.
If You Have Group Lists:
- Press 4 at the Main Menu to select Personal Options.
- Press 3 for Group Lists.
- Press 1 to add a Group List.
- Select and enter your new 1- or 2- digit Group number (1-49), then press #.
- Record a title for your list. Press # when finished. The service will repeat the title.
- Press 1 to keep the title or 2 to re-record.
- Press 1 to begin adding numbers to this list. Press # after each number is entered. Press * to return to the Group List Menu without adding numbers to this list.

If You Have Individual Voicemail Boxes:
You can have up to 9 voicemail boxes on the new system. You must recreate all mailboxes that you currently have:
- Press 4 at the Main Menu to select Personal Options.
- Press 4 to add or delete an Individual Mailbox.
- Press 1 to add a new Individual Mailbox. Press 2 to delete an Individual Mailbox.
- If adding an Individual Mailbox, record your name.
- Press # when finished.
- Press 1 to confirm your name.
- A PIN will be assigned (you can change it later when you access your Individual Mailbox).
