Loren Tobey, Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Loren Tobey oversees Hawaiian Telcom’s information technology and systems integration areas. He is responsible for overall information technology strategy and direction, which includes engineering and implementing key technologies and systems to support and drive the business. He is also responsible for developing and managing strategic supplier relationships.

Prior to joining Hawaiian Telcom, Mr. Tobey served as National Vice President & Chief Information Officer for NextiraOne, a global provider of communications services and solutions. He held this position from 2002 and was responsible for the infrastructure and systems supporting internal and external customers. His responsibilities included reorganizing the information technology area, decreasing IT operating budget, consolidation of data centers and reducing overall cost. As part of the Executive Committee, he was responsible for the realignment and redirection of NextiraOne.

Mr. Tobey previously held positions with:

• Williams Communications Solutions from 1998 - 2002. As Manager, Process Technology Team, he organized a reengineering initiative to develop automated/online internal applications to increase efficiencies. As Director of Business Applications and IT Operations, he coordinated the post-merger integration of three organizations into NextiraOne.
• Trident Data Systems from 1996 – 1998. As Director of Business Intelligence and Senior Analyst, Air Force Information Warfare Center, he was responsible for competitive intelligence, merger and acquisition reviews and business development initiatives; oversight of research and analysis of specialized intelligence.
• United States Air Force from 1973 – 1995. As Special Agent, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, the federal investigative arm of the Department of Air Force, he worked to identify, exploit and neutralize criminal, terrorist and intelligence threats to the USAF, DoD and the U.S. Government.

Mr. Tobey received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences and Management from Southwest Texas State University in 1993, a master’s in Management and Human Resources Development with emphasis on Self-Directed and Cross Functional Team Development from Webster University in 1995, and a degree in Turkish Languages from the Defense Language Institute in 1986.
