Alan Oshima, Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Alan Oshima is responsible for overseeing the legal, regulatory and external affairs of Hawaiian Telcom.

He was founding partner of the law firm, Oshima Chun Fong & Chung, LLP. He has extensive regulatory and legal experience and prior to joining Hawaiian Telcom had been serving as lead counsel in The Carlyle Group’s acquisition of Verizon Hawai'i.

In April 2005, Mr. Oshima received the Hawai'i State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Service Award for his countless hours of volunteer legal work in the community. He has also been recognized as one of “America’s Best Lawyers” in the field of public utilities. In addition to his work in telecommunications, Mr. Oshima has served as the regulatory attorney for the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative, The Gas Company, various water and sewer companies & other utility-related businesses.

The Farrington High School graduate received a marketing degree from Northwestern University and a law degree from University of California, Hastings College of Law. He also served as a Supply Corps Officer with the U.S. Navy in among other places, Pearl Harbor and San Diego.

Among his community activities, he serves as The Chairman of the YMCA of Honolulu, and as Vice President of Hawai'i 3Rs, a non-profit organization that facilitates government, business, community and school partnerships to repair, remodel and restore Hawai'i’s public schools.
