HAWAIIAN TELCOM LAUNCHES HAWAII'S FASTEST INTERNET SERVICE
Supercharged Download Speeds of up to 11 Mbps Now Available

Hawaiian Telcom turned up the heat today in Hawaii's broadband race by unveiling the fastest Internet connection available for Hawaii consumers and small businesses - up to 11 megabits per second (Mbps) download and 1 Mbps upload - powered by its new advanced MPLS network.

Hawaiian Telcom High-Speed Internet (HSI) now offers consumers and businesses ultra-fast Internet service with a choice of 3, 7 and 11 Mbps speed. The new system will deliver Internet access at speeds 100 times faster than conventional phone lines and two to three times faster than other local broadband providers.

"This acceleration in speed establishes a performance benchmark against which all other providers will be measured," said Mike Ruley, Hawaiian Telcom's chief executive officer. "Our investment in our Next Generation High-Speed Internet provides broadband access using the most advanced technology available and brings us another step closer to priming our network for the delivery of our digital video service."

Video is not the only thing that will come at Hawaiian Telcom customers a lot faster, thanks to the company's new MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network.

"The enhanced speeds will improve every experience a customer has when using the Internet," said Michael "Mac" McHale, senior vice president & chief marketing officer. "From downloading photos, music and videos to sending large files, gaming, shopping or just browsing, everything will be faster, cleaner and sharper."

The launch of Hawaiian Telcom's Next Generation High-Speed Internet was made possible by the company's investment of more than $100 million over the last two years into systems and network upgrades.

The new HSI service is available in Metro Honolulu, as well as East Honolulu, Ewa, Mililani, Waipahu and Wahiawa on Oahu, in Hilo on the Big Island and in Makawao on Maui. Hawaiian Telcom is working to expand the new service throughout the state.

Cost of the new high-speed service is only $39.99 a month for 7 Mbps and $49.99 for 11 Mbps when paired with Hawaiian Telcom landline service. Hawaiian Telcom's myChoiceSM bundle customers can upgrade from 3 to 7 Mbps for an additional $4 a month. Business class services are also available. For more information, please call 643-0805 (residential) or 643-0841 (business) or visit www.hawaiiantel.com.

All speeds reflect initial connection speeds between the computer and Hawaiian Telcom's central office. Actual throughput speeds will vary based on numerous factors, including network and Internet congestion and the speed of the Web sites visited on the Internet.
