Hawaiian Tel Offers Hurricane Kit Essential for $5 - Corded Phone Keeps You Connected Even if Power Fails
As many Hawaii residents learned after the October 2006 earthquake, a basic corded phone can provide priceless connectivity when the lights go out. To help residents prepare as Hurricane Flossie approaches the islands, Hawaiian Telcom stores are again offering Slimline cord phones (valued at $11.95) for just $5 each.
“We encourage everyone to consider a corded phone as a Hurricane Kit essential,” said Michael “Mac” McHale, Hawaiian Telcom Senior Vice President & CMO. “A phone that’s not powered by electricity should be a basic, alongside a battery-operated radio, flashlight and bottled water. This type of phone, plus reliable landline service, will help keep Hawaii residents connected in emergency situations like hurricanes.”
Hawaiian Telcom’s statewide network infrastructure continued to function after the October 2006 earthquake, its aftershocks and the day-long power outage that followed.
